Art Nouveau gold chain with locket
This 47 cm long chatelaine – a pocket watch chain that can also be worn as an elegant necklace – was made in the 1920s. The goldsmith used 14k yellow gold. The opening locket is set with a natural clear sapphire (leucosapphire) and a synthetic ruby – popular stones used in the early 20th century.
The chain was stamped in several places with the First Czechoslovak Republic hallmark used between 1921 and 1929 and maker´s marks.
The jewelry has been preserved with its original clasp and spring ring. The opening mechanism of the locket is fully functional, and the locket can also be completely detached. Its smooth surfaces bear slight signs of wear - small dents.
