Pocket watch made of silver and gold decorated with niello
This triple-cover pocket watch, manufactured around 1900, has all covers made of silver (fineness Ag 900/1000). The bow (bail) is made of 14kcarat yellow gold. The exterior of the watch is richly decorated using the tula technique. The inner dust cover bears the serial number "101946" and the inscription "J. Matile Genève" referring to its manufacturer.
The watch is in excellent condition. Functional, with manual winding.
Includes a certificate from Czech Assay Office confirming the fineness of the metals.
Tula (niello) is an inlay technique in which etched or engraved grooves in metal are filled with a contrasting black substance (a mixture of metals and sulfur melted with the addition of borax and then processed using ammonium chloride to form a paste).
Due to the age of the watch, we cannot guarantee its accuracy and long-term functionality.
