nz.134.24.01

An icon painted in tempera on a wooden board, created in Russia at the turn of the 19th and 20th centuries. It depicts four saints: from left to right, Saint Paraskeva, Saint John, Saint Irene, and Saint Panteleimon. Above them, in the “open heaven,” Christ Pantokrator is shown seated on clouds. The background and the frame of the icon are richly decorated with ornamental motifs.

The object is accompanied by a certificate of sale and export issued by the Czech National Heritage Institute. Given its age, the painting shows minor signs of damage (see photographs).
