‘Almorratxa’ glass sprinkler - 18th century
A vessel for fragrant essences called almorratxa. Its circular base supports a biconically tapered body, which was used to store aromatic liquids. The body has one wider spout, through which the vessel was filled, and four narrower spouts used for spraying these liquids, especially rose water. Next to the spouts, there are also four bird-shaped applicators. The vessel is made of colourless moulded glass with sealed white fibres.
This type of glass object was mainly produced in Catalonia, in northern Spain.
Damaged in two places, see photos.
