Allegory of Autumn statuette

nz.068.23.03
A detailed porcelain figure depicting a young man with a wreath in his hair made of autumn leaves, holding a sickle in one hand and leaning on a horn of plenty full of harvested fruits and vegetables with the other. The man is partially wrapped in a pinkish blue cloak reminiscent of an ancient garment. The base is decorated with a floral motif with colourful embossed flowers, the lower edge of the base is accentuated by a golden line.

The marking underneath the statuette in the shape of a sceptre refers to the Royal Porcelain Factory in Berlin, which has been in existence for more than 250 years and was founded by King Frederick the Great of Prussia himself. The porcelain factory is still in operation today and produces high-quality porcelain, which is characterised by a high percentage of handmade porcelain.
