Art Nouveau silver tray - Vienna
An oval tray from around 1900 from Vienna made of silver (Ag 800/1000). Marked with the Austro-Hungarian hallmark "Diana", the letter "A" (Vienna) and the master mark "SH". Decorated with relief and engraving. The tray is partly hollow (at the edges).
This object is a wonderful example of the use of floral art nouveau on a utilitarian object. Its characteristic feature is precisely the smoky curve that winds along with the stylised flowers along the rim. The engraver then depicted the same motif on the centre of the tray.
