Christmas is a time full of magic and fairy tales. Some fairy tales are loved by both children and adults, while others are Christmas classics mainly for grown-ups. And since jewellery plays a significant role in many films, we’ve selected a few that are considered Christmas classics and focused on the jewellery that shines in them. Let our article inspire you (and Father Christmas) this season.
Necklaces, rings, earrings, and even the gemstones themselves – in more than one film, you’ve probably held your breath at the breathtaking beauty of the jewellery. Whether it’s the stunning blue diamond in Titanic, the Pink Panther, the flower ring or black diamond in Sex and the City, or the parade of treasures from Tiffany & Co. in The Great Gatsby, many films simply wouldn’t be the same without jewellery.
The Starring Role of Pearls
“My Goldilocks had a string of precious pearls. The string broke, and the pearls scattered into the grass here in the meadow.” Let’s be honest, Goldilocks wasn’t very careful with her jewellery. A pearl necklace torn apart and scattered, a gold ring with a pearl lost in the lake... Thankfully, the prince and his helpers managed to gather the lost jewellery together again.
Pearls are a staple of the silver screen. They adorn Scarlett Johansson in the beautiful film *Girl with a Pearl Earring*, inspired by the painting of Dutch Baroque artist Johannes Vermeer; an iconic pearl necklace also graces Audrey Hepburn in *Breakfast at Tiffany’s*. Pearl jewellery is inseparable from the style of Coco Chanel, Monaco’s princess Grace Kelly, Michelle Obama, and Britain’s Queen Elizabeth II. You can spot all of these women on the screen, either as actresses or in biopics.

The famous ruby and diamond necklace has become an iconic piece that many women dream of owning.
