Silver milk jug decorated with tula
Milk jug made of silver (purity Ag 875/1000) decorated with niello technique. Gilded inside. It comes from the Caucasus region from the 1950s.
Tula (niello) is an inlay technique in which etched or engraved grooves in the metal are filled with a contrasting, black substance (a mixture of metals and sulphur fused with borax and then processed using ammonium chloride into a paste).
Supplemented by a certificate of purity from the Assay Office.
