Ebonite pocket watch - Chaudé
Pocket watch with ebonite case and Roman numerals made around 1880. The covered dial is enamelled and marked "Chaudé Breveté" and "35 Royal Palais 35". "Chaudé" was a royal watchmaker in Paris and produced pocket watches of the highest quality. This type of watch existed earlier, designed by Charles Oudin. "Royal Palais" refers to the Royal Palace in Paris where these watchmakers were based. The dust case is transparent, so that the movement can be seen.
