Ice glass beaker, 1850s - 1860s
Beakers decorated with craquelure (ice glass) were produced, among other places, by the New World glassworks in Harrachov in the 1850s - 1860s in various colours. This one is of clear colourless ice glass underlaid with ruby glass, the top rim of the vessel is gilded. A very similar shaped goblet was commissioned by the Viennese firm of J. & L. Lobmeyr in the 1860s as part of a sugar water serving set (see photograph).
