Commemorative spa cup - Teplice, 1840
A typical Biedermeier spa glass made of colorless cut and engraved glass with purple-glazed medallions and a German inscription "Andenken aus Teplitz 1840" ("Souvenir from Teplice 1840"). The medallions depict important places in Teplice.
The glass is in excellent condition. The base has a few minor scratches caused by normal use.
Souvenir glass
Glass goblets and cups decorated to the customer's specifications were very popular gifts and souvenirs from the first half of the 19th century. They were individual gifts for name days, birthdays, and other personal or family anniversaries. Sometimes, instead of a monogram, only a universal inscription such as ANDENKEN (In memory) was engraved.
