Silver coin - 2 gulden, silver wedding jubilee of Francis Joseph and Elisabeth, 1879
Massive silver two-gulden coin from the Austro-Hungarian Empire, minted in 1879 to mark the silver wedding anniversary (25 years) of Francis Joseph and Elisabeth of Bavaria. The obverse features portraits of Emperor Francis Joseph I and his wife, Empress Elisabeth of Bavaria (Sisi), and the reverse depicts a woman in a robe sitting on a throne. The limited issue of 275.000 pieces makes it an interesting and beautiful collector's coin.
Condition as shown in the photo. The coin was probably previously fitted with an eyelet; today, only faint marks are visible on the edge.
