SOLD - Carafe - Sweden 1884

Wine carafe made of cut glass and silver partially engraved mounting of 800/1000 fineness. Marked in 1884 in Stockholm and with the master mark 'CGHg' (C.G Hallbergs Guldsmeds, active between 1864-1988). The lid opens with a tilting mechanism. Gilt inside.

Carl Gustaf Hallberg (1824-1880) was a Swedish jeweller and founder of C.G Hallbergs Guldsmeds. Hallberg began his career as an apprentice to art collector Christian Hammer in Stockholm, Sweden. In 1860 he opened his own shop and from 1864 he branded his products with the GCH mark.
