Silver serving cake knife - Alfréd Pollak
Larger serving cake knife made of silver. Marked with Czechoslovak hallmark used between 1929-1941, purity mark "800" and master mark "AP" (Alfréd Pollak). The cutlery has simple undecorated shapes and is in excellent condition.
Alfréd Pollak (active from 1878 - 1909 Prague) was a prominent Prague goldsmith, jeweller and founder of a factory which operated until 1934. Between 1890 and 98 he founded a workshop with a shop at 21 Platnéřská Street in the Old Town, which he expanded after 1900 into a large factory, K. und k. Hofsilberwaarenfabrik, with 40 to 50 goldsmiths (from 1905 in Bredovská Street). It had branches in Budapest and Vienna, and exported its goods to Italy and Russia.
