Travel pocket watch by Tavannes made of highter purity silver (Ag 925/1000) with a closing mechanism. When the watch cover is pressed on the sides, the closing "shutters" open, between which the watch can be tilted to any position. When the watch is tilted back inwards, to a horizontal position, the watch case closes itself. The watch case is decorated with guilloche (a technique of decorating metal by mechanical fine engraving). The dial has Arabic numerals, as well as the manufacturer's markings "Tavannes" and the type of watch "La Captive".
The Tavannes brand was founded in 1891 in Switzerland. By the 1930s, it was already the fourth largest watch manufacturer in the world. In 1926, the company designed a special watch for the future King of England Edward VIII, which was inserted into his belt so that he could keep track of the time while playing golf. This watch had a similar tilting mechanism to the pocket watch we offer. Tavannes also created watch movements for famous brands such as Patek Philippe, Hermès, Dunhill, Zenith and the famous Jaeger-LeCoultre "Reverso" movement. Tavannes is still an active company and sells luxury watches all over the world.
