Silver necklace - Meyle & Mayer - 26,000 Kč

A large piece of jewellery in the form of a pendant and brooch made of silver, complete with a long silver chain. In an oval frame set with natural marcasites, a hand painting of a gallant scene is set under glass. On the back of the pendant is the dedication “Theresa Romano 8-20-22”. The painting with the back of the pendant is probably older, from the 19th century, compared to the marcasite frame, which is done in an art deco style corresponding to the 1920s. The pendant was made by the renowned German jewelry company Meyle & Mayer, founded in Pforzheim in 1887.

The scene depicted is based on the painting ‘The Cage’, translated from the French ‘La cage’, painted in 1763 by François Boucher (1703 - 1770), a French painter and one of the main exponents of Rococo painting.

The material and its fineness is confirmed by a certificate issued by Czech Assay Office.
