The goldsmith achieved the different shades (each earring has stones of a different color) by backing the cabochons with colored foil. Front closure.

The jewelry dates back to the third quarter of the 19th century. Unmarked, the fineness of the metal is confirmed by a certificate from the Czech Assay Office. One earring has a slight dent in one spot.

Underlaying stones with metal foils was common practice not only for bohemian garnets, but also for other natural and paste stones.
