Cup with saucer and plate - 1920s, Teichert

ks.285.00.01

Art deco thin-walled porcelain cup with saucer and plate. Marked underneath in Meissen blue in an oval with a star. Meissen Ofen-und Porzellanfabrik Teichert.

Carl Teichert's factory produced everyday household items. It was founded in 1863 by Carl Teichert, who died a few years later in 1871. It started as a manufacturer of stove ovens. In 1880, the manufactory began producing porcelain tableware and figurines. In 1929, porcelain production ceased. The designation "Meissen" is often mistaken for the royal (later state) Meissen porcelain manufactory, which used crossed swords as a mark.
